witty, catchy, clever pop music
An unfinished version of Guess Who I've Messed With is up now on Myspace and Last.fm
The Soundmill studio lot in Leeds have revamped their website and 'Beautiful Nonsense' features on their showreel, along with tracks from the likes of local luminaries The ABC Club and Tigers That Talked. I've recorded there from day one and it's an ace place to be (cheap to boot).
Ch-ch-check it out:

Our set at Ladyfest Manchester has been confirmed as taking place on the Saturday, 8th November, at the Zion Arts Centre in Hulme. The night will be headlined by Manda Rin, formerly of Bis and Data Panik. More details will be on the Live page when I have them.
In other news, The Common Place in Leeds is under threat of closure. On 30th July they had their Club Premises license withdrawn. This means that The Common Place will continue to function, but some things are not allowed. These are:
* Performance of dance
* Exhibition of a film
* Indoor sporting event
* Performance of music (live or recorded)
* Performance of a play
* Provision of facilities for dancing
* Sale by retail of alcohol
There will be some more new recordings in the near future, but for now...
The "proper" version of Beautiful Nonsense is up. Not mastered yet, though.
I covered Cut Dead by The Jesus and Mary Chain for The Jesus and Mary Chain Covers Project (see top friends). I did it with nothing but layered vocals and effects. It's odd, but fun. You can download it for free.
I'm playing the Friday night special show at Indietracks on 25th July - this coming Friday. We're doing it as an acoustic set, in the round, so it'll be quite a special and unusual show for us. If you're coming to the festival, here are the details...
There will be train departures at 19:15 and 19:45 from Butterley station to take you to the Swanwick festival site (if you are staying at the Alfreton Travelodge this station is easier to get to and cheaper by taxi).
If you are camping you can walk direct to the Festival site, and are welcome to go for a train ride aboard the 19:30 from Swanwick to Butterley and back.
The bar we will be using for the evening is the railway carriage one that was parked outside the main stage shed last year, which is in-between the train platform (and disco) and main shed where the two acts are performing.
20:10 Penny Broadhurst
20:40 Train ride with disco on-board
A version of 'Break It Up & Beat It' appears on a new 4 CD compilation from Series Two Records, released on July 8th 2008. The set features 98 artists from all over the world and costs $30 US dollars (including worldwide postage) for the four CDs. There are only 100, hand numbered sets available. Each of the CDs in the set has its own artwork.
To order, send $30 USD via Paypal to SeriesTwoRecords@gmail.com (contact me if you have any problems doing this, you don't need a Paypal account).
Full tracklisting and artwork here. I'm on the second CD, along with the likes of Jam On Bread, Pocketbooks and Rex Stinson. The rest of the set has ace artists including Anne Bacheley, Princess Niko and Sunny Summer Day. It's a bargain!
Cherryade Records have released a compilation CD as a benefit for Ladyfest Manchester. A special minute-long edit of Team Leader is on the CD. You can buy it here:
