witty, catchy, clever pop music
Our set at Ladyfest Manchester has been confirmed as taking place on the Saturday, 8th November, at the Zion Arts Centre in Hulme. The night will be headlined by Manda Rin, formerly of Bis and Data Panik. More details will be on the Live page when I have them.
In other news, The Common Place in Leeds is under threat of closure. On 30th July they had their Club Premises license withdrawn. This means that The Common Place will continue to function, but some things are not allowed. These are:
* Performance of dance
* Exhibition of a film
* Indoor sporting event
* Performance of music (live or recorded)
* Performance of a play
* Provision of facilities for dancing
* Sale by retail of alcohol
Although the venue can still run as an autonomous meeting space and café, its financial stability relies on the sale of alcohol at events, and as such if it does not regain its licence, the rent of the building will no longer be affordable and Leeds will lose a valuable non-profit space that is used by many - you can read about the venue here: http://www.thecommonplace.org.uk/content/blogcategory/16/31/
You can sign a petition for the reinstatement of the licence here: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/thecommonplace/
There is also a fundraising CD coming out soon to help keep the Common Place open while all this is going on. My song You Wish You Were My Man features, alongside tracks from Kimya Dawson, Cowtown, Vessels and many more. It will only cost £5 and I will post further details when they become available.
